December 04 walking the twilight red carpetby guest blogger Laurel White Honestly, I'm still in a slight state of shock. Due to some extreme generosity on the part of my MSN mentors I was allowed a ticket to the UK premiere of Twilight last night. As I stepped out of the Leicester Square tube stop at about 6:15 to hear a chorus of screaming girls in the distance I knew I was in over my head. Somehow, in my worry over what I was going to wear to a London film premiere, and how completely excited I was to see the film, and exactly what I'd do or say if I came face-to-face with Edward himself (I mean Robert Pattinson, of course) I forgot that hordes of teenage fans had probably been glued to the Vue Theatre in Leicester Square for the past several hours. I fought my way through the crowd, nervous as to how I was going to get to the end of the red carpet (Where was the end of the red carpet, anyway? Is there a special entrance for non-celebrities? Will I have to dodge limousines? How will I convince the guards to let me through?) "Oh right, I have a ticket," I thought, and plowed on through the crowd of screaming, jumping, elbowing girls. I found the end of the carpet and, quite suddenly, I was completely alone. I took a deep breath and took a stroll, past some intimidating models that flanked the entrance (I think they were supposed to be "welcoming vampires"), under the huge jumbotron TV screen, through the ton of glaring lights and past the cameras, onto the red (actually black) carpet, where fake smoke curled around my ankles and tons of girls glared at me from behind the silver gates that kept them from the walk. (I think they were silently asking, "Why aren't you Robert Pattinson?!") So, that was my first (and probably only, if we're going to be honest) red carpet walk. I was seated, got my free Twilight goodie bag, and awaited the film. The entrance of Robert Pattinson, Kirsten Stewart, and director Catherine Hardwicke played on the theatre screen. It was electrifying to think they were just outside - and even more thrilling when they arrived in my theatre to introduce the film (Robert made eye contact with me, I swear!) As far as the film goes, I don't want to spoil it for fellow fans, but suffice to say that I'd bet quite a lot that you'll absolutely adore it. I was on the edge of my seat, jumping, cringing, and practically trembling from all the sexual tension. Just as it should be. My love for Twilight was already firm before the premiere, but now I suppose you could say I've been "bitten" for good. True love is eternal, after all... by guest blogger Laurel White Comments (23)
